During my time at RAF Tangmere, the NF11s with AI10 wartime-vintage radar and a ceiling of 29000' struggled on a night exercise.
They were no match for Canberra incoming "raiders" (ceiling 63000') but they were the only squadron with a night combat capability.
While I was at Tangmere the Hunters never received their promised radar, the nose cone containing instead a heavy metal
chunk of makeweight in lieu.
